OJSC Tojiktelecom has connected Tajikistan to DE-CIX, one of the world’s largest Internet exchange platforms, based in Frankfurt, Germany, the Communications Service under the Government of Tajikistan told NIAT Khovar.
Through Tojiktelecom, DE-CIX international Internet routes will be available to Tajik operators and providers participating in the national Internet exchange point TJ-IX.
The connection is expected to improve access to global platforms and services and reduce latency for Internet traffic exchanged with European data centers, helping increase connection speed and stability.
The project is expected to support the development of Tajikistan’s digital economy and online services. Banks, government information systems, data centers and other digital services will benefit from more stable and faster connections to international platforms.
For Internet users, the connection could improve the quality of video conferencing, distance learning, streaming and other online services.
The DE-CIX connection will also diversify Tajikistan’s international Internet routes and strengthen the country’s digital infrastructure.
