The drinking water pipeline serving 19,000 residents was the latest infrastructure project in the city of Istiqlol to be inaugurated on September 21 in the presence of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon.

Drinking water is now being supplied to the city’s population from a distance of more than 17 kilometers, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the involvement of development partners. This has helped resolve the existing water supply challenges faced by residents.

During the presentation of the project, the President was informed that the drinking water pipeline was constructed using pipes with a diameter of 250 millimeters and equipped with specialized gravity-flow systems.

Construction of the drinking water pipeline began in November 2024 in accordance with the project plan, with 150 local residents employed in the construction work.

With the implementation of this important social initiative, residents of the city of Istiqlol have also gained opportunities to plant and grow vegetables and agricultural crops on their household plots.

During the years of the country’s independence, necessary measures have been implemented to develop the social and economic sectors of the city of Istiqlol. As a result, progress has doubled across all social and economic areas, including the provision of drinking water to the population.
