8.3-magnitude quake hits West Sumatra, Indonesia
Dushanbe, 03.03.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). — An earthquake measuring 8.3 on the Richter scale jolted West Sumatra of Indonesia on Wednesday and a tsunami alert was issued, Xinhua News Agency reports.
According to a source, the quake struck at 19:49 p.m. local time with an epicenter at 682 km southwest of Mentawai islands and with the depth of 10 km under the sea bed.
The warning was issued for the West Sumatra province and neighboring provinces of North Sumatra, Aceh, Bengkulu and Lampung, said a source.
