Beginning of the next SCO summit in the Russia’s city of Ufa
Dushanbe, 10.07.2015 (NIAT «Khovar»). Today in Ufa of the Russian Federation began a regular meeting of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO).
The meeting was attended by the heads of all member states, observer countries, and a group of countries dialogue partners, invited States, as well as representatives of various international and regional organizations.
The President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Heads of all states and high-ranking guests were welcomed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
After a joint photo session began the meeting of the Heads of SCO member states in the narrow format, which is attended by the heads of Russia, China, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan.
The enlarged meeting will also be attended by heads 5 observer countries of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Iran, Mongolia, and the President of Turkmenistan — as a guest of the President of Russia.
It is expected that one of the main results of the summit will be coordination of procedures for the accession of India and Pakistan into the SCO .
In addition, a formal application for membership to the organization has already been received from Iran.
Also, a number of other countries, including Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Sri Lanka, Syria, Ukraine, Maldives, Cambodia, Egypt also asked for observer status in SCO or a partner.
The main result of the summit will be adoption of the Development Strategy of the SCO to 2025, Ufa Declaration Agreement on Cooperation on border issues, as well as programs of cooperation in the fight against terrorism, separatism and extremism for the next three-year period (2016-2018 years).
