Dushanbe, 17.02.2016. (NIAT «Khovar»). — Today, in the Palace of Nation the Founder of peace and national unity, Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the United Kingdom State Minister for International Development Desmond Swayne.

At the meeting the issues of strengthening and development of friendship relations of cooperation with Great Britain were discussed. «Now, we are satisfied that stable ties of friendship, mutual understanding and constructive cooperation are established between Tajikistan and Great Britain», — stressed at the beginning President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The two sides during the meeting exchanged views on the development of further cooperation and prioritized the programmes of agriculture and irrigation, social security and employment, the development of rural economy, private sector, diversification of the economy of Tajikistan and the creation of new jobs».

During the meeting the two sides expressed satisfaction on strengthening of parliamentary relations, the establishment of a friendship group between the two countries’ parliaments, creating a certain number of yearly training and educational places in the UK universities and the development of cultural cooperation.

The head of state thanked Great Britain for support for the implementation of the regional project CASA-1000 and allocation of 37 million USD for this goal.

Contribution to the maintenance of regional stability, finding ways to a comprehensive solution to the Afghan problem in cooperation between the two countries was one of the main subjects of talks. The sides also have had a constructive conversation regarding the impact of the world financial and economic crisis, attraction of foreign investments into the economy and other issues of mutual interest.
