EBRD supports Tajik Sodirot Bank’s new strategy
Dushanbe, 14.03.2016. (NIAT “Khovar”). — On March 9, 2016, the leadership of the National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) representatives have discussed the issues of development of the Tajik banking sector and paid special attention to the role of the systemic banks, in particular to Tajik Sodirot Bank (TSB). The parties have also discussed NBT’s efforts in minimizing the impact of the regional crisis on the financial sector of Tajikistan.
According to NBT press service, EBRD welcomed and supported the new strategy of TSB grounded on strengthening bank’s capitalization and aimed at achieving stronger growth and better quality of lending to the real economic sector, including through attraction of new foreign institutional investors to the bank’s capital structure. EBRD hopes that the success of this process will enable EBRD to resume and develop the full scale cooperation with TSB.
On EBRD side the participants of the discussion were George Orlov — the Financial Institutions Director for Russia, Central Asia and Mongolia, Arthur Pogosyan — Deputy Director on Financial Institutions, Business Leader for Central Asia and Richard Jones — the Director and Head of EBRD Office in Tajikistan.
On the NBT side, the participants of the meeting were Jamoliddin Nuraliev — the First Deputy Chairman of the NBT and Sirojiddin Ikromov — the Deputy Chairman of the NBT.
