Following talks with President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Masato Kanda, the ADB President said the Asian Development Bank plans to mobilize about $1.1 billion to implement its new Country Partnership Strategy for 2026–2030.
Kanda said his first visit to Tajikistan marked an important milestone in bilateral cooperation. He described the meeting as constructive and focused on priority areas and prospects for expanding the partnership.
The new strategy, approved last week, outlines support for key sectors of the economy. Kanda said the bank intends to direct about $1.1 billion toward its implementation.
In coordination with the Tajik government, the bank aims to promote sustainable, diversified and inclusive economic growth centered on job creation. Priorities include developing resilient infrastructure, improving economic governance, boosting competitiveness and expanding access to quality social services, including education and health care.
Kanda also praised the government’s commitment to private sector development. He said the bank will continue to support efforts to strengthen the business climate, encourage innovation and create jobs to foster sustainable growth and improve living standards.
ADB has worked with Tajikistan since 1998 across a wide range of socioeconomic development sectors. Kanda said the country can continue to rely on the bank’s comprehensive support.
