OIC summit on Palestine kicks off in Jakarta with the participation of the foreign minister of Tajikistan
Dushanbe, 07.03.2016 (NIAT «Khovar») .- A two-day extraordinary meeting of the heads of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) states is being held in the Indonesian city of Jakarta on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif on Monday.
An extraordinary summit was opened here on Sunday, bringing together representatives from 49 Muslim countries.
Minister for foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjiddin Aslov represented Tajikistan at the ministerial level preparatory meeting Sunday.
During the Ministerial Meeting the draft Declaration and Resolution of Jakarta to be approved on the Fifth Extraordinary OIC Summit on Palestine and Al-Quds Al-Sharif on 7 March, have been discussed.
Within the framework of the Ministerial Preparatory Meeting the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov held a bilateral meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Indonesia Ms. Retno Marsudi, where Parties have exchanged their views on further strengthening of bilateral relations.
The two sides discussed prospective of bilateral cooperation development and pointed out the necessity of holding the next Meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee on economic and trade cooperation.
The issues of cooperation within the framework of United Nations and other international and regional organizations have been discussed as well. At the end of the meeting a press conference was held, where the two ministers were able to answer various questions.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov has also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Afghanistan Salohiddin Rabbani. The Parties exchanged their views on various issues of cooperation, in particular the border issues, as well as noted the necessity of taking joint efforts in combating modern challenges and threats.
