Emomali Rahmon of Tajikistan and Narendra Modi of India discuss further cooperation
Dushanbe, 24.06.2016 / NIAT «Khovar» /. On June 24, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has met with the representative of an SCO observer country, the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in the sidelines of the next summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation Council of Heads of State.
The two Leaders discussed a broad range of issues related to state and prospects of further expansion of bilateral cooperation between their countries.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon said that Tajikistan as a state-founder of the SCO fully supports India’s aspirations for membership in the SCO, and considers the interaction of the countries within the organization as another factor promoting constructive cooperation.
A special attention was paid to the priority areas of cooperation and mutually beneficial relations in the specific projects and programs in the agricultural sector, the development of relations in the fields of energy, industry, science and technology, tourism, health, transport, as well as in cultural and humanitarian spheres.
The legal base of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and India includes more than 60 cooperation agreements in various spheres, and the Heads of State welcomed the process of their implementation.
In order to present the proper level of relations in the economic sectors, including in trade and economic spheres, it was proposed to strengthen the activities of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission.
Also among the topics of conversation were the issues of strengthening regional stability, the fight against global threats and challenges. The two leaders expressed their common position on the solution of these problems.
