Dushanbe, 01.06.2016 (NIAT “Khovar”). –The International community has not yet found a solution to the problem of terrorism, Kazakhstan’s President Nursultan Nazarbayev said on Tuesday.

«The treats of terrorism have radically changed our understanding of international security. Terrorism does not choose borders, does not divide countries on rich and poor.

And we have no single and common solution to counter this threat,» Nazarbayev said in an address to the participants of the international conference «Religions Against Terrorism.»

The Kazakhstani leader noted the importance of «stepping up joint efforts to appropriately counter this global threat.» «It is critically important to direct our efforts at eliminating the ideological basis of terrorism, including by broad and quality educational work of political leaders, spiritual leaders, public opinion leaders, media,» he stressed.

Nazarbayev reminded that at the UN session, he proposed establishing a global network to fight against terrorism and extremism, as well as «improving international legal framework in this sphere.» «In the manifest ‘World. 21st Century’, I called on the humanity to preserve global security and stability. In this regard, mutual understanding between representatives of different religions, cultures and civilizations is important,» he noted.

The Kazakhstani leader expressed hope that the conference in Astana «will give a special impetus to the unique format of dialogue between political and religious leaders, successfully carried out in the framework of the Session of world and traditional religions.»

«I am sure that today’s meeting will enrich the experience of dialogue of cultures and religions, new ideas will be presented, directed at increasing the role of religions in the process of countering terrorism,» the president added.

Nazarbayev’s address was read out by Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Chairman of the Kazakhstani Senate.
