Committee for Emergency Situations: “Mudflows in Rasht and Asht districts destroyed houses, flooded a bridge, washed away roads”
Dushanbe, 29.07.2016. /NIAT “Khovar”/. Mudflows have been recorded in the districts of Rasht and Asht of the country as a result of heavy rains.
According to the press center of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence, earth flows on the territory of the villages of Kalanak and Yaldumich in Rasht district fully flooded a bridge and partially affected plots of land.
In addition, a road on 16km and 25-30km section of “Hoit-Nazarayloq” highway in Rasht district has been partially washed away as a result of heavy rain.
At the same day, torrential rains, mudslides in communities of Dahansoy and Pongoz in Asht district of Sughd Region also led to a wipe-off of 10km to 15km of rural road; these also partially damaged 2 houses, 5 cars and a teahouse. No casualties have been recorded.
Currently, the district Commission on elimination of consequences of emergency situations is working on the scene.
