Meeting with the Prime Minister of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka Ranil Wickremesinghe
In the framework of his state visit to the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon met with the Prime Minister of this country, Hon. Ranil Wickremesinghe.
During a constructive meeting, the current state and prospects of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between Tajikistan and Sri Lanka have been discussed.
The sides had a thorough exchange of views on how to further develop bilateral relations in the economic-trade and investment spheres, energy, textile industry, processing of natural resources, tourism industry and its infrastructure, as well as science and cultural ties.
Many economic commonalities of Tajikistan and Sri Lanka have been evaluated as a factor that creates a favorable basis for cooperation, and it was expressed confidence that the signing of bilateral documents as a result of high-level talks of Tajikistan and Sri Lanka would play an important role in expanding and strengthening inter-governmental cooperation in various fields, which is favorable for the creation of the Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Sri Lanka on Trade-Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation and the Council of Entrepreneurs of the two countries.
A constructive discussion took place on important regional and international issues, the situation in the modern world, stability and security in the region, including taking into account the complex political and economic situation in Afghanistan, as well as the joint struggle against such negative phenomena as terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking and transnational organized crime.
