Regional Dialog on the initiative of Tajikistan to declare the “International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development», 2018-2028” held in Pakistan
DUSHANBE, 17.02.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On February 15, 2017 in Islamabad on the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan on collaboration with the Ministry of science and technology of Pakistan, the ECO Science Foundation, as well as the Pakistan Council of research in water resources organized a Regional Dialog on the initiative of Tajikistan to declare the «International decade for action «Water for Sustainable Development», 2018-2028 years», which was attended by officials from ministries and agencies of the host country, experts of the World Bank, the ECO Scientific Foundation, scientists and teachers of universities and research institutes, and representatives of the nongovernmental organizations.
According to the MFA Information Department, the Ambassador of Tajikistan, Jononov Sh. in his welcoming speech noted that this event is a continuation of the initiatives that were proposed by the Republic of Tajikistan. He stressed that by the proposal of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Mr. Emomali Rahmon, the UN General Assembly unanimously adopted a resolution entitled «International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development», 2018-2028 » the sponsored by 177 member States of the UN, which is a solid platform and will assist in the coordination and promotion of all efforts to resolve issues and problems related to water resources.
It is reported that then, in the course of the event, the technical group considered the methodological, organizational, legal and practical aspects of the implementation of the «International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development», 2018-2028 years» at the national level and developed relevant proposals.
