Tajikistan seeks to ensure stability and security in Afghanistan
DUSHANBE, 06.02.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. “Tajikistan is always seeking to ensure stability and security in the friendly and neighboring country — Afghanistan. It was stated by Shukurjon Zuhurov, the Chairman of Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the country during the meeting with Mohammad Gul Zalmai Yunusi, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the Republic of Tajikistan.
During the meeting the interlocutors have reportedly paid attention to issues of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations and expansion of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. It was noted that the groups of friendship and cooperation between the parliaments of the two countries are active and the aim of the creation of these groups is to create favorable conditions for the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations. The parties touching upon economic cooperation stressed that the most of economic, social, energy, transport and transit projects that have been implemented and are being implemented in Tajikistan will connect Afghanistan as an important economic and trade partner with Central Asian region in the future.
It was noted that they have an outstanding role in the strengthening economic, trade and cultural relations, as well as in the expansion of inter-regional cooperation, in particular in the establishment of border markets and direct business contacts between the border regions of the two countries. In this direction, the working commissions at the level of border regions leaders are active and their meetings are held annually.
Shukurjon Zuhurov addressing political situation in Afghanistan added that Tajikistan is always in favor of peace and accord in Afghanistan. “We always support the initiatives of the world community and Afghanistan’s leadership towards the achieving peace and accord in friendly country”.
Afghan diplomat Zulmai Yunusi, in turn, expressing interest in the expansion of inter-parliamentary relations, added that during his diplomatic mission in Tajikistan will focus all his efforts for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
