Ancient Navruz celebrated in the country of the Pharaohs
DUSHANBE, 21.03.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On March 19, 2017 in one of the hotels of the Egyptian capital overlooking the eternal river Nile the Embassy of Tajikistan in this Arab country hosted an official reception on the occasion of the Navruz, Embassy of Tajikistan in Cairo reports.
According to the Embassy’s message, the high ranking officials from the foreign office, members of the Egyptian parliament, representatives of various ministries and departments, cultural and art figures, representatives of the media and business communities of the host country, as well as foreign ambassadors and members of the Tajik community in Egypt attended that event.
In his welcoming speech Ambassador of Tajikistan in Cairo Khusrav Noziri congratulated guests on the occasion of arrival of Navruz and briefly spoke about the history, origins and high ideals of this spring ancient festival. The guests of the event were given the opportunity to enjoy viewing video clips with the participation of famous Tajik performers of folk art. The reception hall was decorated with the symbols of Navruz, in particular the large table of «Haft Sin». A brochure dedicated to the Navruz holiday containing an article by the well-known Tajik scholar Akbar Turson entitled «The Culture of Navruz and the Ideals of the United Nations» was presented to the guests of the festive event.
The celebration of Navruz in Cairo vividly demonstrated to the Egyptian society and the guests ofthe event the eternal and inseparable connection between the Tajik culture and Navruz.
