The Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received today the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

In the beginning of the meeting, the Head of state Emomali Rahmon pointed out that Tajikistan is interested in expanding of cooperation with the UAE in all fields of common interest, and particularly underlined the realization of the agreements reached following the Tajik-UAE dialogue at the highest level.

During the substantial meeting the sides expressed satisfaction with the current level of political cooperation between the two countries and noted that Tajikistan and the UAE share similar stances regarding pressing international and regional issues.

Particular attention was attached to strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation and creating parliamentary friendship groups, boosting economic, commercial and investment ties, establishing the Joint Investment Fund and the Tajikistan-UAE Commercial Council, opening branches of the UAE commercial banks in Tajikistan as well as activation of the work of Tajikistan-UAE Joint Commission for economic, commercial and technical cooperation.

During the talks, the two sides also expressed interest in expanding of bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, particularly hydropower, transportation and communications, mining, agriculture, tourism as well as recruitment of manpower from Tajikistan to UAE.

The interlocutors exchanged views on issues of security situation in the Islamic world, fight against international terrorism and extremism, prevention of new challenges and threats, and expressed readiness to strengthen partnership in this direction.
