Dushanbe hosted Tajik-U.S business forum
DUSHANBE, 14.07.2017 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Business forum of entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and the United States of America was held on July 14 at the National Library of Tajikistan.
The forum was attended by the Chairman of the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan Faiziddin Kahhorzoda, Director of Public Relations and International Business Development for AGCO Corporation, Chairman of the Tajik-American business forum Philip de Leon, acting U.S. Ambassador in Tajikistan Keith Crawford, as well as representatives of a number of companies and entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and the United States.
Tajik-American business forum is conducted by the State Committee for Investments and State Property Management of the Republic of Tajikistan on the direct initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
During the business forum a presentation was made about investment opportunities of the Republic of Tajikistan and directions of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and the United States, as well as a presentation on risk management during the direction of investment in foreign markets. It was noted that from 2007 to 2017 (first three months), $ 463,9 million of American investments were invested in the economy of Tajikistan. From them, $ 167,9 million are private investment and $ 296 million — loans. The share of U.S. investment in Tajikistan is 6.1%. Tajikistan uses the wide possibilities of American investment in energy, industry, tourism.
Diplomatic relations between Tajikistan and the United States were established on February 14, 1992. Currently, the Tajik-American relations are developing fruitfully in trade, economic, humanitarian, political, military, education and health spheres.
As part of this event the U.S. — Tajikistan Business Council and the State Unitary Enterprise “Tajinvest” signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
At the end of the business forum entrepreneurs of Tajikistan and the U.S. held bilateral meetings and discussed investment and trade-economic projects aimed at further effective cooperation.
