DUSHANBE, 12.09.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received today the President of the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB) Dr. Bandar Hajjar.

The discussion covered various aspects of bilateral cooperation, in particular, the prospects of Tajikistan – IsDB cooperation.

The Head of our state Emomali Rahmon expressed his satisfaction with the bilateral development cooperation for 20 years in terms of implementing a number of priority projects in the field of education, healthcare, energy, transport, irrigation and land management.

It was stressed that during the period of Tajikistan’s cooperation with the Islamic Development Bank, IDB has implemented investment projects amounting USD 335million for priority projects in Tajikistan.

Currently, seven projects amounting USD 173 million are under implementation in our country with the support of IDB in the areas of education, poverty alleviation, energy, irrigation and transport.

The IsDB side reaffirmed their commitment to the implementation of two projects — the construction of the Kulob – Kalaikhumb road (section II) and the improving access to quality maternal and newborn health services.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues related to the implementation of the national development strategy of Tajikistan for the period until 2030.

The Tajik side expressed its readiness to cooperate within the IDB Special Program for Central Asia (2016-2020) and the “Lives and Livelihoods Fund (LLF)”.
