DUSHANBE, 01.11.2017. /NIAT «Khovar»/. Today in the Palace of the Nation, the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon received the Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation Nikolai Patrushev.

In the course of the talks, the Head of our state expressed satisfaction at the progress made in strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Russia, and underscored that Tajikistan’s position regarding expansion of security cooperation with Russian Federation has remained unchanged.

The two sides had fruitful and in-depth discussions on Tajik – Russian security cooperation within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

It was noted that joint measures should be taken to enhance cooperation to prevent and fight against threats facing the world today, solution of regional security issues and strengthening of control along Tajikistan’s common border with Afghanistan. In light of this, the two sides reiterated their commitment to strengthening of cooperation and integration between Security Councils of the two countries.

The sides also discussed issues of expansion of military and technical cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia as well as improvement of combat capability of Tajikistan’s Armed Forces and border troops.
