Permanent Representative of Tajikistan to the UN took part in the Breakout session on SDGs 6 and 7 – Energy and Water
DUSHANBE, 20.11.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On November 19th, in Doha, Qatar in the framework of participation at the High-level Conference Financing for Development and Means of Implementation of the 2030 Agenda the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN Mahmadamin Mahmadaminov participated and moderated the Breakout session on SDGs 6 and 7 – Energy and Water.
According to the MFA Information Department, at his opening remarks as the Vice President of ECOSOC Ambassador Mahmadaminov underlined the importance of science, technology and innovation in the implementation of all Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and called to prioritize financing of these sectors.
Ambassador also noted the special attention given by Tajikistan to the SDG 6 and underlined the initiatives of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon in this field, including the International Decade of action “Water for sustainable development, 2018-2028”. M. Mahmadaminov expressed hope that this Decade with its implementation and monitoring mechanisms will help coordinate and increase the effectiveness of the measures taken and steps towards the achievement of SDGs related to water.
