The second meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Kuwait on economic, trade and scientific and technical cooperation held in Kuwait city
DUSHANBE, 20.12.2017. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On December 18-19, the second meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Kuwait on economic, trade and scientific and technical cooperation was held in Kuwait City, State of Kuwait.
According to the MFA Information Department, the Tajik delegation at this meeting was headed by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Hikmatullo Nematullozoda, and the Kuwaiti side by First Deputy Minister of Finance of the State of Kuwait Khalifa Khamoda.
On December 19 the official part of the meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission was held.
Within the framework of this meeting, the parties discussed the state, prospects and further development of cooperation in various fields, including economy, trade, finance, investment, private sector, agriculture, oil and gas, energy, tourism, education, culture, sports, television and radio, as well as other issues of mutual interest.
During the meeting, the Sides highly appreciated the role of the official visit of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon to the State of Kuwait in May of 2017, in further strengthening cooperation between the two countries.
In order to strengthen direct cooperation between the business communities of the two countries and to better introduction of Tajikistan’s investment opportunities, the Sides agreed to hold a joint investment Forum in 2018 in Kuwait.
Realizing the importance of drafting the Program of Cooperation of the two countries in the sphere of tourism for 2018-2020, the Sides agreed to establish a special Investment Development Fund in order to support small and medium-sized projects in Tajikistan.
The Kuwaiti Fund for Arab Economic Development expressed its readiness to finance Tajikistan’s priority infrastructure and social projects, including the construction of the Kulyab-Kalaikhumb road (sections A and F).
Within the framework of this visit, the head of the Tajik delegation met with the Minister of Trade and Industry, State Minister for Youth Affairs Mr. Holid Nosir al-Rawson, Finance Minister Mr. Naif al-Hajraf and Chairman of the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce Mr. Ali Muhammad Sunyan al-Gonim, where ssues of the state, prospects and development of cooperation between the two countries in various fields, including the economy, trade, industry, as well as other issues of mutual importance were discussed.
Within the framework of the meeting of the Joint Commission, First Deputy of the National Bank of Tajikistan Mr. Jamoliddin Nuraliyev met with the leadership of the banks of Byte-ut-Tamil and Buben of the State of Kuwait, during which they discussed the development of cooperation between the banking structures of the two countries and attraction of grants to the economy of Tajikistan.
Following the meeting, the Protocol of the second meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission of Tajikistan and Kuwait on economic, trade and scientific and technical cooperation was signed.
