Enlarged meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 18.01.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon chaired an enlarged meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Government House, to review the result of the country’s socio-economic development in 2017 and main tasks set out for 2018.
The meeting was attended by the members of the Government, senior staff within the Executive Office of the President, heads of ministries, agencies, provinces, cities and districts, the heads of higher educational institutions, the directors on Centre for implementing investment projects, the state-owned commercial banks and joint-stock banks, the head of mass media and other officials.
The President of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon, opening the meeting, noted that 2017 was a successful year for the Tajik people, and, in general, its indicators summed up by significant result.
At an enlarged meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Prime Minister Qohir Rasulzoda reported on the results of the socio-economic development of the country in 2017.
It was emphasized that, despite the negative impact of external factors, a stable economic development of the country has been preserved, the fulfillment of macroeconomic and social indicators is provided in line with priority objectives.
He noted that Tajikistan’s gross domestic product (GDP) has made up more than 61.1 billion somoni, its real growth – 7.1 percent.
It was noted that the economic growth, in particular, has shown an increase of 21.3 percent of industrial production, agriculture product, up 6.8 present, the fixed capital, up 4.1 percent and retail trade turnover, up 6.6 percent.
On measures taken by the Government of the country, the revenue part of national budget was implemented by 100.1 percent and stood at 19.5 billion somoni, 13 million somoni more than it was originally planned.
During the reporting period, the tax authority fulfilled the tax revenue plan by 102.6 percent, the customs administration – by 98 percent.
In order to effectively use existing resources and opportunities the Prime Minister noted on establishment of 170 new industrial enterprises and creation of about 3,000 new jobs.
It was noted that the establishment of a metallurgical enterprise with an annual production capacity of 50,000 tons of lead in the «Industrial Zone of Tajikistan and China» and the establishment of a number of industrial enterprises will lay a solid foundation in the industrialization process of the country.
The part of the budget revenues for social insurance and pensions is provided at the expense of the social tax fulfilled by 97%, i.e. the budget has not received 46 million somoni.
The Head of State gave concrete measures to the Prime Minister, the First Deputy and Deputy Prime Ministers to remove existing shortcomings, and to conduct an analysis of the results of the socio-economic spheres in the past year.
