Tajikistan and Canada expand bilateral cooperation
DUSHANBE, 31.01.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov received on January 30 the Ambassador of Canada to Tajikistan (with residence in Astana) Nicholas Brousseau.
According to the MFA Information Department, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of relations between Tajikistan and Canada.
The interlocutors expressed interest in the search for new ways to expand bilateral cooperation. In this context, the parties pointed out the need to use huge opportunities to strengthen trade, economic and investment ties between the two countries, in particular in the areas of hydropower, transport, communications, agriculture, tourism, education and science.
The Minister S. Aslov called upon the delegation of Canada to actively attend the High-Level International Conference “Countering terrorism and radicalism” (Dushanbe, 3-4 May 2018) and the High-Level International Conference devoted to the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028 (Dushanbe, 20-22 June 2018).
The interlocutors also touched upon the issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and Canada within the framework of international organizations and other issues of mutual interest.
