Parliament discussed Agreement on strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan
DUSHANBE, 26.02.2018 /NIAT «Khovar»/. Agreement on strategic partnership between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan was discussed on February 26 at the Council meeting of Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli /Lower House of Parliament/ of the country that was held under the chairmanship of Speaker Shukurjon Zuhurov.
The Chairman of Committee for International Affairs, Public Associations and Information of Majlisi namoyandagon Olimjon Salimzoda commented this issue to the deputies. It was noted that this document was signed taking into account the common history and culture and on the basis of mutual recognition and respect for the rights of independence of each state in the implementation of foreign policy. This document promotes the strengthening of the potential of cooperation between Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
It was stressed that the Parties may amend the Agreement by mutual consent. The parties respect and support the status of permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan and the foreign policy of the Republic of Tajikistan, and comprehensively strengthen mutual confidence and mutual cooperation in the field of international politics.
It should be noted that this document was signed during the official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tajikistan in November 2017.
