Political consultations rounded up between Tajikistan and Pakistan
DUSHANBE, 30.04.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. Political Consultations between Tajikistan and Pakistan were held between the delegations co-chaired by First Deputy r Foreign Ministe of Tajikistan Nizomiddin Zohidi and Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Pakistan Aitzaz Ahmed.
The Political Consultations took place in Islamabad on 26 April 2018.
According to the Tajik MFA information Department, the two sides discussed current matters relating to bilateral relations.
They expressed their satisfaction with level and content of collaboration. It was stated that the cooperation between the two countries on the implementation of large energy and infrastructure projects have begun, as evidenced by the CASA 1000 power transmission line project.
During the meeting, prospects for cooperation in the spheres of politics, economy, trade, investment, science, education and culture have been discussed. The parties stated their commitment to further develop mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.
Within the framework of consultations, the sides exchanged views on topical issues of the regional and international agenda. In this regard, the two sides, underlining the similarity of the positions of Tajikistan and Pakistan regarding the struggle with modern challenges and threats to peace and security, stressed of the need to further strengthen cooperation between the two countries within the framework of regional and international organizations on issues of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, Pakistani MFA Information Department reports both sides expressed satisfaction at the close fraternal relations and progress made thus far.
The two sides reviewed their bilateral relations and examined the prospects of cooperation in areas of trade and economy, investment, culture, education, science & technology, defence, parliamentary exchanges, humanitarian issues and people-to-people contacts.
It was agreed to further consolidate the bilateral relations in all areas of mutual importance. The sides expressed satisfaction at their ongoing collaboration at the UN, ECO, SCO and OIC.
The two sides discussed the evolving peace and security situation in the region. The Special Secretary briefed the Tajik side on Pakistan’s efforts aimed at promoting peace and security in the region, Pakistan-India relations and human rights violations in the Indian Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
The Tajik Deputy Foreign Minister also called on the Foreign Secretary and exchanged views on matters of mutual interest. He also delivered a talk at the Institute of Strategic Studies Islamabad (ISSI).
It was decided to hold the fifth round of consultations in Dushanbe in 2019.
