President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin
DUSHANBE, 09.06.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On the sidelines of the Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in Qingdao, China, the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a meeting with President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to discuss the main directions of strategic partnership between the two countries.
The head of state Emomali Rahmon highly appreciated the close cooperation between Tajikistan and Russia and expressed Tajikistani side’s interest for its future expansion.
While addressing promoting regional security, the two sides shared their views on joint fighting contemporary threats, the difficult situation on the state border with Afghanistan. Tajik — Russian military-technical cooperation was assessed important and priority area.
It was stressed that Russia remains the main trade and economic partner of Tajikistan and for its boost the implementation of the decisions reached at the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was assessed important.
The heads of state also paid special attention to the development and expansion of interregional cooperation addressing energy and mining fields, the creation of joint industrial enterprises and export of goods and agricultural products to Russia.
Satisfaction was expressed with implementation of measures aimed at enhancing of labor migration, including the declaration of immigration amnestyfor some citizens, and support to the improvement of living conditions of forced migrants. It was emphasized that the continuation of such timely measures, in particular the extension of the registration and licenses for the activities of migrants, would be for the benefit of the cause.
During the meeting, the sides also expressed their satisfaction with the existing bilateral cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres, science and education, providing a network of schools where teaching is conducted in Russian.
Following the meeting, President of the country Emomali Rahmon wished success to the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin in holding the World Cup.
