Participation of the Leader of the Nation Emomali Rahmon in the meeting of the National Development Council
DUSHANBE, 03.07.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon chaired a meeting of the National Development Council under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan at the Government house.
Taking part in the meeting were representatives of the Development Partners Coordination Council (DPCC), Tajikistan’s relevant Ministries and Agencies, NGOs and international organizations.
The agenda included issues related to the National report on interim results of the implementation of goals of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 and Medium-term Development Program for 2016-2020 in the context of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
In his keynote speech the President of the country, Chairman of the National Development Council Emomali Rahmon pointed out that the main priorities of the country’s long-term development period covered issues of education, healthcare, employment, ensuring food security and access to quality products, energy independence, country’s connectivity and turning it into a transit country, fighting corruption, managing effectively, environmental protection and managing demographic risk.
Raising the living standards of population is the highest goal of Tajikistan’s long-term development program. Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Nematullo Hikmatullozoda reported to meeting participants on the National report on interim results of the implementation goals of the National Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 and Medium-term Development Program for 2016-2020.
The UN Resident Coordinator in Tajikistan Dr. Pratibha Mehta, the chairs of the Development Partners Coordination Council (DPCC) / World Bank Country Manager for Tajikistan Jan-Peter, the Head of Delegation of the European Union to Tajikistan Hidajet Biščević made remarks on significant process in the activities of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for socio economic outlook and ensuring development.
Speakers gave a positive assessment of these measures and expressed their opinion that sustainable cooperation with development partners in order to strengthen the implementation of strategic goals will continue in the future.
The Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon summarized the meeting and expressed his gratitude to development partners for their active participation in the implementation of the strategic goals of Tajikistan.
