In New York discussed the cooperation of Tajikistan with the United States, China and the European Union
DUSHANBE, 25.09.2018 /NIAT “Khovar”/. As we reported earlier, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin is on working visit in New York to attend the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly.
As NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, on the sidelines of this session S. Muhriddin held a number of meetings with representatives of various UN agencies and other states, and discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation. In particular, Tajik Foreign Minister on September 24 met with the Assistant Secretary of the US State Department for South and Central Asia Ms. Alice Wells.
It is reportedly said that during the meeting, the parties discussed bilateral issues and strengthening of cooperation within the framework of the C5+1, as well as had exchange of views on the issues of the regional security and development of trade and economic ties between the two countries.
On this day, S. Muhriddin also held a meeting with the State Councilor and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China Wang Yi.
“The parties had an exchange of views on the key issues of bilateral and multilateral relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the People’s Republic of China”, says the ministry’s message.
Also, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the European External Action Service Secretary General Mrs. Helga Schmidt.
According to the Foreign Ministry, the two parties discussed issues related to strengthening political, trade and economic and security cooperation, as well as implementation of projects in the framework of long term programs.
The parties also had an exchange of views on issues related to security, the current situation in Afghanistan, strengthening regional cooperation and other issues of mutual interest.
