Brussels hosted the next Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the countries of Central Asia and the European Union
DUSHANBE, 24.11.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On November 23, Brussels hosted the next Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the countries of Central Asia and the European Union. The meeting was attended by the Foreign Ministers of Central Asian countries and the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini.
As the Foreign Ministry of Tajikistan reports, the meeting participants discussed a wide range of issues, including preparation of a new EU Strategy for Central Asia, regional cooperation and elimination of security challenges, connectivity, attraction of investments and sustainable development of the Central Asian region, partnership in mitigation of consequences of climate change, protection of environment and water resources management, as well as other regional and international issues.
The Ministers emphasized the necessity of continuing the mutually rewarding cooperation of the region countries with the European Union in order to enhance the economic, transit, transport, agriculture and energy potential of the countries of Central Asia, improve investment climate, ensure sustainable development of the region, handle effective border management, develop human resources and support small and medium-sized businesses.
The ministers adopted a Joint communiqué following the meeting.
