Cooperation between Tajikistan and the World Health Organization was discussed in Geneva
DUSHANBE, 27.11.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On November 26, at the headquarter of the World Health Organization in Geneva, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojidin Muhiddin met with the Director-General of the Organization Adhanom Gebreyesus. NIAT “Khovar” has been reported by the MFA Information Department.
During the meeting, the interlocutor was informed about the efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity — Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon in the development of the health sector. Also, specific proposals for future cooperation, including the importance of bilateral cooperation in the implementation of reforms of medical care, equipment of medical institutions, maternal and infant mortality, and the like were presented to the Director-General.
The Organization was proposed to take part in the initiatives of Tajikistan, the International Decade for Action “Water for Sustainable Development”, 2018-2028.
In the framework of cooperation with Afghanistan, the other side was invited to make extensive use of the capabilities of the medical system in our country. Taking into account the unity of the language and the availability of highly qualified personnel in Tajikistan, our side also proposed the development and implementation of tripartite projects.
In turn, the Director-General expressed satisfaction with the development of cooperation in the field of health. The focus was on the capabilities of our country in the development of the health sector in Afghanistan.
At the end of the conversation, the parties agreed that the World Health Organization will take the necessary steps to implement projects and programs in Tajikistan in the field of health, in particular, the national development strategy by 2030 in collaboration with other development partners.
