Tajikistan’s delegation took part in the OECD’s “Eurasia Week”
DUSHANBE, 22.11.2018. /NIAT “Khovar”/. On 19-21 November 2018, the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim took part in the OECD’s “Eurasia Week”, which was held in Paris, France.
According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the country, the head of the Tajikistan’s delegation has introduced the achievements of the country during the period of independence of the Republic of Tajikistan and noted that in order to further develop economic and political sectors of the country the Government of Tajikistan has approved number of strategic documents, including National Development Strategy for the period up to 2030 and Medium Term Program for the period of 2016-2020 and on this basis the Government of the country has achieved number of significant achievements.
In particular, annual economic growth rate was maintained by 7%, which lead to reduction of poverty rate of the Republic of Tajikistan from 53% to 30%.
For this period more than 2000 km of transport roads, 190 km of railways, 30 km of tunnels and 93 bridges were built and put into operation. With the efforts of the Founder of Peace and National Unity – Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan, His Excellency Emomali Rahmon the first aggregate of the largest construction of the century — “Roghun” HPP has started operating from 16 November 2018.
Moreover, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Azim Ibrohim met with the Director of the International Cooperation of OECD Andreas Shaal, at which issues on bilateral cooperation, including the growth of the economic competitiveness and attraction of foreign investments were discussed.
