DUSHANBE, 25.12.2018. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon has received a message of congratulations from Secretary-General of the United Nations António Guterres.
The message reads:
Excellency,
I would like to extend my congratulations on the successful adoption by consensus of the United Nations General Assembly resolution A/RES/73/226 entitled «Midterm Comprehensive Review of the International Decade for Action ‘Water for sustainable development’, 2018-2028, which was initiated by the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan and co-sponsored by 190 countries.
This is a significant step and an indication of the confidence of the United Nations Member States in your country as a leader on water issues and as an advocate in advancing global implementation of the water-related goals and targets of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
I am confident that countries will make good use of the new mandates to further our shared work on water issues, including through the midterm review of the implementation of the objectives of the Water Action Decade, scheduled to be held in 2023.
Thank you again for your commitment to this important endeavour.
Please accept, Excellency, the assurance of my highest consideration.
