More than 57,000 Tourists Visited Khujand in 2018
DUSHANBE, 04.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – More than 57,000 people, including 2,500 foreign tourists and more than 55,000 domestic tourists visited the city of Khujand during the first 11 months of last year.
During this period, five travel agencies provided services to foreign and domestic tourists, accumulating a total of 1.8 million somoni in revenue, reported the Press Center of the Mayor’s Office in Khujand.
Lately, city officials and provincial entrepreneurs have been focusing their attention on building and renovating the city’s social facilities, buildings and infrastructure, as well as on developing tourism.
A 1050 meter-long ropeway and two new restaurants, Forel and Temurmalik, to be built in Khujand this year in order to attract more tourists.
Currently, in the greater Sughd province, twenty-six travel agencies, over 60 hotels and 13 resorts are in operation to accommodate the influx of guests.
Khujand is one of the main industrial, cultural and touristic cities of the country. The number of tourists visiting the city is increasing every year.
In 2018, approximately 800 000 tourists visited Tajikistan by entering the country through the Sughd province alone. The majority of tourists came from Uzbekistan, Russian, Ukraine, Moldova and Georgia.
