Silk Road International Tourist Train Arrives in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 24.03.2026 (NIAT Khovar) – For the first time, Tajikistan has been included on the route of the Silk Road International Tourist Train. On 23 March, the inaugural train carrying 89 tourists from Kazakhstan arrived in Dushanbe, reports NIAT “Khovar”.
The delegation was welcomed at the capital’s railway station by officials from the Committee for Tourism Development, Tajik Railway Company, and representatives of the tour operator “Somon Travel.”
Later that day, an excursion program was organized for the visitors, featuring a city tour of Dushanbe and a visit to the historic Hissor Fortress.
The program included cultural performances featuring traditional music and dance, guided visits to historical and cultural landmarks, as well as a gastronomic segment showcasing national cuisine.
The Tajik tour operator “Somon Travel” served as the project’s national organizer, providing a full package of high-quality services — from transportation logistics to cultural programming and information support.
The initiative is being implemented in partnership between “Somon Travel” (Tajikistan) and “Grand Soluxe Travel Company” (Kazakhstan), marking an important step in advancing regional tourism and strengthening intergovernmental ties across Central Asia.
The launch of the route is viewed as a significant development for Tajikistan’s tourism sector. The inclusion of the country’s capital in the Silk Road International Train itinerary — connecting Almaty, Turkistan, Samarkand, Dushanbe, and Tashkent — underscores Tajikistan’s growing potential as an attractive travel destination.
It was noted that such constructive initiatives not only contribute to increasing the flow of foreign tourists, but also enhance Tajikistan’s international reputation as a country with a rich cultural heritage, renowned hospitality, and a rapidly developing tourism infrastructure.
