Tajikistan Significantly Increased Electricity Exports in 2018
DUSHANBE, 29.01.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Electricity production amounted to nearly 20 billion kWh, which exceeds the number for the year before it by more than 1 billion million kWh. The generation rate stood at 109%, reported the Minister of Energy and Water Resources of Tajikistan Usmonali Usmonzoda at a press conference held on Monday.
“The main producers are Barqi Tojik with 16 billion 210.9 million kWh, Sangtuda-1, with 2 billion 397.4 million kWh, Sangtuda-2, with 826.4 million kWh, Pamir Energy, — 184 million kWh, Roghun with 90 million kWh,” noted Usmonzoda.
Besides the large power plants, there are 286 small hydropower plants in Tajikistan, with a capacity a total capacity of 26,745 kWh, producing 33.7 million kWh of electricity last year.
The total volume of electricity exports in Tajikistan in 2018 amounted to nearly 2.5 billion kWh, which is over 1 billion kWh more than in 2017.
“The total amount of cash revenue from the sale of electricity in 2018 from both domestic and foreign consumers amounted to 2.7 billion somoni [$286 million], which is 458.8 million somoni more than in 2017,” stated Usmonzoda.
In 2018, Barqi Tojik’s accounts receivable amounted to 2.3 billion somoni, and accounts payable amounted to 4.4 billion somoni.
