National Bank Maintained A Stable Level Of Inflation
DUSHANBE, 06.02.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The National Bank of Tajikistan (NBT) maintained a stable level of inflation in 2018. The inflation reached 5.4% last year, which is 1.3% less than the same period in 2017, reported the Chairman of NBT Jamshed Nurmahmadzoda today during a press conference.
“These results were achieved due to the implementation of an active anti-inflation policy, including the effective use of monetary instruments and the stabilization of the situation in the domestic foreign exchange market,” Nurmahmadzoda explained.
Taking into account the stability of the main inflation risks, NBT reduced the refinancing rate in 2018 from 16% to 14% per annum.
In order to regulate the currency supply, overnight deposits in the amount of 39.3 billion somoni were attracted, which is 2.1 times more than in the same period of 2017.
