DUSHANBE, 28.04.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon held a meeting with the Vice President of the People’s Republic of China Wang Qishan. The meeting took place on the sideline of the second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation on 28 April in Beijing.

President Emomali Rahmon thanked the government of China for the invitation to take part in the second Belt and Road Forum.

During the meeting, the parties discussed matters beneficial for both Tajikistan and China, including the joint implementation of the One Belt, One Road initiative and the Silk Road Economic Belt. The participation of China in the economic development of Tajikistan and its investment in the implementation of projects of regional importance was also mentioned.

It was stressed that Tajikistan and China are good friends, good neighbors and reliable partners. The importance of the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan up to 2030 and the One Belt, One Road initiative in creating a favorable basis for bilateral cooperation in various fields was noted. These two important strategies cover similar tasks and their implementation seeks to strengthen and expand relations between Tajikistan and China.
