Emomali Rahmon Receives Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov
DUSHANBE, 17.05.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – On the sidelines of the high-level conference International and Regional Cooperation on Countering Terrorism and Its Financing Through Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime, on May 17th, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon received the Foreign Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.
The meeting took place on May 17th in the city residence of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
While discussing the conference’s agenda, in particular countering the challenges and threats of the modern time that negatively impact the region’s security, President Emomali Rahmon noted that only the integration of countries and the joint struggle can provide an opportunity to destroy this «plague of the century.»
Kamilov underscored Tajikistan’s leading role in addressing global challenges and expressed his gratitude to the Tajik side for the warm reception and for organizing the conference.
A wide range of issues relating to cooperation both in bilateral and within the framework of international organizations, were discussed. Other issues of mutual interest were also mentioned.
It was stressed that the Tajik – Uzbek comprehensive relations are developing at the level of trust, and that the government and people in both countries are satisfied with strengthening and expanding ties.
