ADB Vice-President Shixin Chen: $1.8 Billion Allocated for Important Investment Projects in Tajikistan
DUSHANBE, 18.06.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, following the meeting with the President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, the Vice President of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Shixin Chen briefed the media about his visit to Dushanbe.
“Over the years of cooperation between Tajikistan and the ADB, about $1.8 billion was allocated as soft loans, grants and technical assistance aimed at implementing important investment projects in various socio-economic areas of the country,” said ADB Vice President Chen.
Chen also noted that today, the ADB is one of the largest multilateral partners of Tajikistan and supports the infrastructure sector, especially the transport and energy spheres, as part of its assistance.
“We also support the social sphere of Tajikistan and in this context we provide our assistance to the field of education. The ADB continues to implement projects to develop vocational education and support the agricultural sector,” added Chen.
Chen stressed that during the meeting, the parties also discussed cooperation between Tajikistan and the ADB regarding the promotion of food security and regional cooperation, and noted the importance of comprehensively using existing opportunities to expand bilateral relations.
