Anniversary Summit of the SCO Heads of State Will Take Place in Dushanbe
DUSHANBE, 19.06.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – A meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (CHS SCO) chaired by Kyrgyzstan was held on June 13-14 in Bishkek, which reviewed the implementation of the outcome of the 2018 Qingdao Summit and the priorities for the further development of the SCO in the context of current processes in world politics and the economy.
The agreed positions of the parties on practical cooperation in the field of politics, security, trade, economy, cultural and humanitarian ties within SCO were reflected in the adopted Bishkek Declaration.
In accordance with the rules of procedure of the SCO, Russia assumed the chairmanship of the organization during the Bishkek summit. The next meeting of the CHS SCO member states, which is usually held in the middle of each year, will be held in 2020 in Russia. The SCO chairmanship from Russia will pass to Tajikistan.
Accordingly, the 20th SCO anniversary summit will be held in Dushanbe in 2021 reported the Tajik Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Tajikistan will chair the Council of Heads of State, the Council of Foreign Ministers, the Council of National Coordinators and the meeting of the SCO Permanent Representatives.
Tajikistan has begun preparations for the assuming the next presidency of the SCO for the period 2020-2021, during which it intends to make a worthy contribution to the further development of the organization.
In this regard, the government of Tajikistan has created and already actively works an Organizational Committee chaired by the Prime Minister of the country to prepare and conduct the SCO anniversary summit in Dushanbe.
During its chairmanship, Tajikistan intends to concentrate efforts on ensuring security and stability, strengthening trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties in the SCO space.
