President Emomali Rahmon Visits Vahdat
DUSHANBE, 01.08.2019. (NIAT Khovar) – In order to further acquaint himself with the socio-economic development of Vahdat, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon arrived in the city where he also participated in the opening ceremonies of various new buildings.
The first opening ceremony was for the state emblem which was erected in the new Emblem Square.
Following the ceremony, President Rahmon visited the National Exhibition of Economic Achievements and Crafts. The exhibition featured traditional items, including embroidery, traditional hats, jewelry, weaved baskets, crafted and carved cradles, wooden plates, spoons, as well as several national dishes.
Next in the list of events was the opening ceremony of a shopping center and a children’s entertainment center.
The two newly opened centers have created 500 jobs, recruiting primarily local residents.
Among the newly built buildings in Vahdat are multi-story apartment blocks with 20 stores located on their ground floors. The small sewing workshop there has created 40 new workplaces.
The foundation stone of this apartment complex was laid during President Rahmon’s working visit to Vahdat in 2014.
While meeting local children from families requiring financial assistance, President Rahmon emphasized that children are the future of the nation, and that is why the government has been taking concrete steps to improve the conditions of education and their comprehensive care.
In addition, President Rahmon inaugurated the new Center of Justice building.
Visiting the Sakhovat farm, President Rahmon got acquainted with the process of repeated growing of crops and harvesting onions and toured the Exhibition of Agricultural Products. The Sakhovat farm was established in 2002 and encompasses 57 hectares.
As of July 1, the revenue from the sale of locally produced agricultural products has reached nearly 189 million somoni, which is approximately 12 million somoni or 6.9% more than during the same period last year.
Farmers are taking measures to contribute to the implementation of the Program for the Development of Horticulture and Viticulture in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2016-2020.
Vahdat, which is also known for its beekeeping products, has increased the number of bee hives, bringing the total to 15,171.
Last year, local beekepers produced 248 tons of quality honey. This year, they hope to get even more.
Nearing the end of his visit, the head of state inspected the newly paved road connecting the inter-settlement roads in the Mehrobod village of Bazarboy Burunov and attended the opening ceremony of the secondary educational institution #30 designed for 1300 students who will attend in two shifts, and held a meeting with teachers and education representatives of Vahdat.
