Tajikistan’s Foreign Minister Attends the UN Security Council Meeting
DUSHANBE, 26.09.2019 (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated in and addressed the meeting of the UN Security Council on Cooperation between the United Nations and regional and subregional organizations in maintaining international peace and security and the role of SCO, CIS and CSTO in combating terrorism.
While expressing concern over the increase in international terrorism, extremism, illicit drug trafficking and different forms of transnational organized crime, Muhriddin highlighted the important role played by regional and subregional organizations, including the SCO, CIS and CSTO in reinforcing UN efforts in countering the challenges and threats of the complex modern world.
Muhriddin also briefed the participants on the outcome of the International and Regional Cooperation on Countering Terrorism and Its Financing Through Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime conference which took place in Dushanbe on May 16-17 this year.
