Over 1.2 Million Foreign Tourists Visited Tajikistan in 2019
DUSHANBE, 07.02.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Tajikistan achieved good results in the field of tourism development in 2019. The number of foreign tourists, travel agencies, and infrastructure improved markedly. The information was provided today by the Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development Shirin Amonzoda.
“Numerous measures taken to attract tourists have borne fruit. Over 1.2 million foreign tourists arrived in Tajikistan in 2019, which is 219,700 people more than in 2018,” Amonzoda noted.
According to her, last year the Committee had successfully coped with the tasks set within the framework of the Years of Rural Development, Tourism and Folk Crafts.
“The Committee adequately represented the possibilities of the country’s domestic and foreign tourism abroad, carried out activities for the development and revival of folk crafts, and significantly increased the image of Tajikistan in the international arena,” Amonzoda added.
The number of travel agencies also increased significantly in 2019. To date, 202 travel agencies serve tourists, with employment of 4684 people.
