CIS COVID-19 Date: Number of Infected People in Russia Exceeds 62,000

DUSHANBE, 23.04.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – As of 15:30, the number of people infected with COVID-19 in Russia has increased by 4774 people, reaching 62,773 people.

The number of those who have recovered is 4,891, with those who died resulting from the virus totaling 555 people. Russia ranks 10th in the world in terms of the number of infected people.

In Belarus and Ukraine, which have the highest number of cases in the CIS after Russia, there are 7,281 and 7,170 infected respectively. In Belarus, 58 people have died and 769 have recovered. The death toll in Ukraine is 187. In addition, 504 people have already been discharged.

The number of confirmed cases in Moldova has reached 2,778, of which 560 have been discharged and 75 have parished.

In three other Central Asian states — Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan, the number of patients infected with coronavirus is 2,207, 1,716 and 631, respectively.

Of those infected in Kazakhstan, 536 have recovered. Over 450 people have recovered and 7 have parished in Uzbekistan. In Kyrgyzstan 302 people have recovered and 8 died.

COVID-19 death toll in Armenia has increased by 50 people today, bringing the total to 1,523. Over 655 people have been discharged.

The number of infected in Azerbaijan is 1,518, of whom 907 have discharged, with 20 individuals dying as a consequence.

Among the CIS member states, only Tajikistan and Turkmenistan have no recorded cases of coronavirus infection to date.

In neighboring Afghanistan, there are 1,226 cases, of which 177 have been discharged, with 40 expired individuals.

According to new data, there are currenctly 2.7 million cases registered so far, with 184,493 individuals having died as a result of the infection. Most,727,886 people, however, have recovered and 58,152 are in critical condition.

The countries with the most cases of coronavirus infection, in addition to Russia, are USA (889,092 people), Spain (213,024), Italy (187,327), France (159,877), Germany (150,729), Great Britain (133,495), Turkey (98,674), Iran (85,996) and China (82,798).

On March 11, WHO declared the COVID-19 outbreak a pandemic. According to the data, the coronavirus is affecting 210 countries and territories around the world.
