As Tour Agencies Remain Closed Committee for Tourism Development Focuses on Tourism Product Development
DUSHANBE, 13.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Committee for Tourism Development is asking tour agencies to temporarily suspend their domestic services until the risk of COVID-19 stabilizes. Most tour agencies have closed subsequent to border closures due to the spread of the virus.
Following the confirmation of first cases in Tajikistan on April 30, the republican COVID-19 prevention commission has banned the organization of any public events until the situation in the country stabilizes. In this regard, the Committee urges travel agencies to adhere to the above instructions and refrain from organizing any domestic and international trips until the situation stabilizes.
In collaboration with travel agencies, the Committee has developed anti-crisis measures in the field of tourism and together with development partners is negotiating for the effective use of time for the development of tourism products for the coming seasons. Additionally, a working group consisting of domestic and international experts has been established at the Committee in order to implement the republican commission’s instructions, and depending on the situation, to organize webinars and video conferences.
The Committee is also studying the experience of foreign countries and plans to apply the best examples in the promotion of tourism.
