FM Muhriddin Attends Event Devoted to Water, Sanitation and Climate Issues
DUSHANBE, 30.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin attended a virtual high-level joint event Accelerating Implementation of the 2030 Agenda Through Water, Sanitation and Climate Action, which was organized by the initiative of the Permanent Missions of Canada, Finland, Hungary, Japan, Kenya, Netherlands, Portugal, Singapore and Tajikistan to the UN and the UN Department of Social and Economic Affairs, as well as support of the UN-Water.
While considering the COVID-19 pandemic and its negative impact on social and economic life of countries, as well as climate change and its consequences on the fauna and flora, Muhriddin called on all parties to strengthen cooperation for an effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals for the period up to 2030.
Muhriddin also noted the importance of preservation and rational use of water resources in the region and drew the attention of participants to the global water initiatives of President Emomali Rahmon, which would contribute to the promotion and implementation of water related Sustainable Development Goals.
Additionally, while outlining the priority areas for Tajikistan’s interaction within the UN and, mentioning the current epidemiological situation in the world, Muhriddin emphasized the need to increase cooperation and partnership of the parties at all levels.
