President of Tajikistan Had a Telephone Conversation with His Iranian Counterpart
DUSHANBE, 06.05.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – The Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon had a telephone conversation with the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Dr. Hassan Rouhani.
At the outset, the two leaders congratulated each other and the nationals of both countries with the arrival of Ramadan.
The heads of both states expressed their interest in expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation.
During the discussion about the alarming trends in the global and regional security, they reaffirmed their intention to maintain economic cooperation amid the global spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The two leaders informed each other about the measures to stop the spread of the infection.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon expressed his sympathy and words of support to the friendly people of Iran who lost their families and loved ones in fighting Covid-19 and wished a speedy recovery to all patients currently battling with this virus.
President Emomali Rahmon praised Iran’s decisive and timely effort in fight against this infection desease.
The parties also discussed some aspects of Tajik-Iranian bilateral relations. The importance of taking the necessary measures to minimize the negative impact of the pandemic on the dynamics of their development was emphasized. In this regard, the parties expressed hope for holding the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Cultural and Technical Cooperation as scheduled.
Referring to Iran’s success in the production of coronavirus diagnostic kits and other equipment needed to fight coronavirus, Dr. Rouhani expressed his readiness to provide assistance to Tajikistan, through shipment of equipment and providing specialists and necessary medications.
During the conversation, other issues were also considered.
