Amonzoda Attends UNWTO Video Conference on Tourism Industry Recovery After COVID-19
DUSHANBE, 02.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) held a video conference devoted to the topic of tourism recovery.
The video conference focused on issues relating to reducing the impact of COVID-19 on the tourism industry and ways to rehabilitate the industry.
The UNWTO Secretary-General Zurab Pololikashvili, Chairman of the Committee for Tourism Development of Tajikistan Shirin Amonzoda, heads of tourism agencies of Azerbaijan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia, Belarus, Turkmenistan and Russia attended the conference, wherein they exchanged their views and analyzed the situation in neighboring countries, cooperation between the relevant structures in the field of tourism and joint action plans.
“The Committee for Tourism Development is constantly working with travel agencies to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on the industry. Measures are also being taken to develop domestic tourism and create favorable conditions for attracting foreign tourists,” informed Amonzoda.
While assessing the organization of virtual routes, the parties noted that for the further development of tourism in neighboring countries it is important to create a single tourist database in cyberspace along with separate and joint long-distance (virtual) routes.
