Deputy FM Huseinzoda Speaks with British Ambassador Lawson and Head of DFID Office
DUSHANBE, 10.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) – Yesterday, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Muzaffar Huseinzoda spoke with the British Ambassador Matthew Lawson and the head of the Department for International Development (DFID) Office in Tajikistan Honor Flanagan via video-call.
The talk focused on the results of a video conversation between the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin and the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and North Ireland Wendy Morton on May 21.
The parties reaffirmed their commitment to the joint fight against COVID-19 and stressed the need to further expand mutually beneficial cooperation in the political, economic and security fields. Partnership within the framework of international organizations and financial institutions was also recognized as important.
The active role of the UK’s DFID in mitigating the effects of COVID-19 through implementation of programs, including promotion of economic growth and wealth creation, regulatory reform and direct support to the private sector, support of transparent and efficient management of public finances, promotion of regional co-operation and trade to stimulate growth was also underlined during the conversation.
