Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin Meets with the Ambassador of Japan Miyashita
DUSHANBE, 20.06.2020. (NIAT Khovar) –The Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Tajikistan Takayuki Miyashita.
The officials discussed the development of bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Japan in various fields and exchanged views on other issues of mutual interest, including the cooperation between the two countries in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.
Muhriddin expressed his gratitude to Japan for its assistance in the fields of infrastructure, health, sanitation, public welfare, training and skills development within the framework of the Official Development Assistance (ODA).
It was noted that education and development of human resources are one of the priority issues for Tajikistan. Specialists from Tajikistan participate in various training courses in Japan. Positive contribution is brought by the Project for Human Resources Development Scholarship by Japanese Grant Aid (JDS) through capacity building of young specialists in international relations, law, economic and management areas. The activities of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which are making significant contribution to the economy and social spheres in Tajikistan, were highlighted during the discussion.
The signing ceremony for the Exchange of Notes on mutual understanding between Tajikistan and Japan on humanitarian assistance in the fight against COVID-19 under the Economic and Social Development Program was held following the meeting.
